My Values

About Kira

I came from a liberal arts school out of undergrad. I had no idea what a professional school (or business school) was or the different resources available to those students. When I graduated, I thought I wanted to be a film editor. Little did I know that WHAT I thought I wanted (sitting in a dark room by myself for 12+ hours a day), wasn’t really aligned with my social extroversion or the lifestyle that I wanted for myself.

I’ve worked in film production, in HR and Recruiting for Fortune companies (DreamWorks Animation, Disney, ILM/Lucasfilm), and as a Career Coach for undergrad, MS and MBA students at some of the top business schools in the world (USC Marshall, UW Foster, NC State, Pepperdine). I was even an actor professionally in Los Angeles for about 3 years, while working as a project manager for some college friends who owned their own businesses.

All of these pivots were intentional and were very significant moves across industries and job functions. What allowed me this flexibility to move around so freely?

I could always explain what experiences had informed how I’d gotten to where I was and WHY I wanted that next thing.

That’s my zone of genius. I call it personal narrative strategy.

Though I am grateful for all of the learnings I have accumulated from my academic and professional pursuits, I would have benefited from a mentor or coach to give me the tactical short cuts around recruiting and aligning life goals with career targets, earlier.

Now, I help my clients cut out "noise" and get down to what really matters to them so they can move towards their goals with poise and confidence. And hopefully have a shorter and more straight forward path than I did.

Secondary reason: I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 42. Forty-two!

I spent a lot of my life feeling like I spoke a different language. I worked hard to learn how to adapt my communication style to the people around me in work, and in life, to make meaningful connections and clearly communicate my ideas.

I've tried a ton of different project management, learning, and personal regulation techniques to find what works for me. Everyone (whether neuro spicy or neuro typical) has different strengths and weaknesses, and differences in learning preferences.

I'm here to help you find your "sweet spot" so you can operate at your absolute best, every day.

Zones of Genius

(AKA things clients tell me I’m better at than most other career coaches)

For Individuals

  • Helping people feel less “icky” about networking and finding a bespoke approach that is sustainable and maybe even fun!

  • Coaching people to tell their best version of each STAR story through mock interviews (multi-round interview prep and guided industry and company research).

  • Crafting authentic personal narrative strategies (ie: Elevator Pitch expert). This is where you gain a sense of confidence and agency!

  • Resume editing and writing. Drawing out the “hidden” bullets you didn’t know needed to be there.

  • Helping non-business people understand business lingo.

For Organizations:

  • Individualized leadership and professional development consulting/skill building strategy.

  • Independent coaching on an “as needed” or retainer basis. Please inquire.

  • Long term strategic talent planning and staffing analysis.
